France in the Eurovision Song Contest 1997
France was represented by Fanny, with the song '"Sentiments songes", at the 1997 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place on 3 May in Dublin. "Sentiments songes" was chosen internally by broadcaster France 2.
At Eurovision
On the night of the final Fanny performed 22nd in the running order, following Denmark and preceding Croatia. At the close of voting "Sentiments songes" had picked up 95 points (including maximum 12s from Estonia, Norway and Poland), placing France 7th of the 25 entries. The French jury awarded its 12 points to contest winners the United Kingdom.[1]
