History

The land that Fruitland Park occupies was previously owned by the J. E. North Lumber Company. The F. B. Mills Farm Company of Syracuse, New York bought the land in 1913 for the purpose of growing figs. The area eventually became a fruit and trucking center.

One of the early settlers was Mr. John A. Nicholson. Mr. Nicholson served in the Second Boer War and in an honor guard during the coronation of King Edward VII.
