Georgetown Speedway

Georgetown Speedway was built in 1949 by Melvin L. Joseph. It is located on U.S. Route 113 about 1 mile south of Georgetown, Delaware. Attendance on some nights is boosted by fans coming via ferry from New Jersey. After sitting silent for a number of years the speedway was recently reopened in May 2006.[1] The speedway is currently promoted by Jessica James. Georgetown Speedway is 1/2 mile clay oval with racing every Friday night at 7:00 PM. Classes run at the speedway are Big Block Modifieds (Northeast style), Super Late Models, Crate Modifieds, Crate Late Models, Little Lincoln Vintage cars, and Vintage cars. After Doug Hoffman bought Bridgeport, 3 investors purchased the facility after sitting idle for half a year.
