German order of precedence

The German order of precedence is a symbolic hierarchy of officials in the Government of Germany used to direct protocol. It has no official status, but has been established in practical use.[1]

  1. The Federal President (Bundespräsident)
  2. The President of the Bundestag (Bundestagspräsident)
  3. The Chancellor (Bundeskanzler)
  4. The President of the Federal Council (Bundesratspräsident), also acting as deputy to the President
  5. The President of the Federal Constitutional Court (Präsident des Bundesverfassungsgerichts)
