Glenn Martin (coach)
Glenn "Abe" Martin (January 19, 1906 – April 17, 1997)[1] was an American football, basketball and baseball coach. He was the fifth head football coach for the Southern Illinois Salukis (SIU) in Carbondale, Illinois, a position he held for ten seasons from 1939 to 1949. His overall coaching record at SIU was 31 wins, 42 losses and 5 ties. This ranks him fourth at SIU in terms of total wins and tenth in terms of winning percentage.[2]
On April 30, 1972, Southern Illinois' baseball field was dedicated in honor of Martin, who retired from the athletic department in 1971.[3] Martin was the Saluki baseball coach from 1946 to 1964.
