Gollaprolu is a town in East Godavari district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is a Municipality in Gollaprolu mandal of Kakinada revenue division.[2]
Geography
The region is cyclone-prone with agricultural dependant.[3] The villagers are known for growing one of the most sought after varieties of hot pepper and is famous for the production of onions, ground nuts, cotton and rice.[4]
Governance
The town was upgraded from nagar panchayat to Municipality on 23 June 2015.[5]
Education
The village school
The village school was founded in 1954, built on land donated by philanthropist Mrs. Subhadra Gavarasana and is named "Dr. Malireddi Venkataraju Memorial Prathamika Paathasaala," in memory of her father.[4] It provides Telugu-medium coeducational education for about 400 students with ages 6 to 10.[3]
