HK Television Entertainment

HK Television Entertainment Company Limited (Chinese: 香港電視娛樂有限公司, or HKTVE) is a television service operator in a Hong Kong operated by Hong Kong billionaire Richard Li's PCCW, who also owns a IPTV platform, Now TV.

HKTVE's license was formally approved by the Hong Kong government on 1 April 2015, concurrent with the announcement that ATV's over-the-air license would be revoked on 31 March 2016.[1]

Per the approval, HKTVE planned to launch a Cantonese channel within 12 months of the approval, and an English channel within 24 months. The Cantonese service, ViuTV, will operate on a 24-hour schedule,[2] while the English channel will broadcast on a 16-hour schedule with an 8-hour block repeated twice daily. The license was issued on a 12-year term, subject to a mid-term review in 2021.[1][3]
