Haldibari is a village development committee in Jhapa District in the Mechi Zone of southeastern Nepal.Haldibari, Haldi means besar/turmeric. At the time of the 1991 Nepal census it had a population of 6,407 people living in 1,167 individual households.[1]
Haldibari is 4 km from Chandragadhi and 7 km from Birtamod and the Mahendra Highway and approximately 5 km from the border with India. The center of Haldibari is Haldibari Chowk. There is one post office, one police station located near to Haldibari Chowk.
There are two major factory. The name of factory are Haldibari Tea and Rakura Tea Factory. Most of all parts of haldibari is covered with tea garden. Different castes of people like Rajbanshi, Satar lives here. Also Brahmin, Chettri, Kumai, Damai, Newar, Sarki, Rai, Limbu, so on. Once in a week Saturday, fare is held at Haldibari bazaar near to haldibari chowk. In this fare different kinds of item like cloths, cosmetic etc. are bought to the bazaar.
Most of people in this VDC are farmer. They produce Garlic, Paddy, Maize, etc. according to seasons.Bitternut is famous fruit found in this VDC. Nepali and Rajbanshi languages are widely spoken.
Road way is main transportation in this VDC,all most all parts of this VDC roadway is reached. One of the important sahakari sastha is Ekata Bahu Uhdhesya Sahakari Sastha, which gives loans to the farmers.
