Hannah Lux Davis (born May 17, 1986)^[1] is an American music video director known for working with artists such as Nicki Minaj, Ariana Grande, Fifth Harmony, Cher Lloyd and Lil Wayne.^[2]

Early life

Davis was born on May 17, 1986 in Bellevue, Washington, U.S.

Career

Davis left Washington for Los Angeles at age 18, where she enrolled in the New York Film Academy, and the Los Angeles Film School a year later. For her final projects, she made music videos, and decided to pursue a career in the music video industry. Davis graduated from the Los Angeles Film School in 2006, and went into music video production.^[3] She worked for a time as a makeup artist and even attended makeup school in order to get on the sets of music videos, commercials, and feature films.^[2]

Davis is a woman in a typically male-dominated field. Davis said that when she landed the job for Lil Wayne's "Love Me" video, Drake, featured on the track, did a double-take when Davis arrived on set. This video put me in a position where people were like, ‘Who is that?'"^[4]

Davis says her primary inspiration is visual, drawing on lots of photos to inspire the look she hopes to establish in a specific video.^[5]
