Haughley is a village in the English county of Suffolk.

About Haughley

Haughley, an ancient village and a parish in Suffolk. The village stands about 3 miles from Stowmarket. The parish is cut into the divisions of Haughley Green, Old Street, New Street, and Tothill, population 859. On the edge of the village is Grade II listed Haughley House.

Haughley was a lordship held after the Norman Conquest by Hugh I de Montfort. Later it fell into the king's hand, and in 1187 Henry II granted it to Geoffrey, count of Perche. On his death in 1202, King John granted it to his illegitimate son, Geoffrey, who died in 1205 without heirs.
