Herbert Karl Abratis (21 March 1918 – 29 March 1945) was a highly decorated Major in the Fallschirmjäger during World War II. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Herbert Abratis was killed on 29 March 1945 south of Stettin.
Career
Abratis was born on 21 March 1918 in Babienten, Sensburg in East Prussia, present-day Mrągowo, Poland.
