High Altitude Venus Operational Concept
High Altitude Venus Operational Concept (HAVOC) is a NASA study leading to the development of an evolutionary program for the exploration of Venus, with focus on the mission architecture and crewed floating inflatable vehicle concept for missions into Venus's atmosphere.[1][2][3][4]
The HAVOC study comprises a series of missions that would create a Venus colony in five steps:[5]
- Robotic exploration into the Venusian atmosphere
- Crewed mission to orbit Venus for 30 days
- Crewed mission to Venusian atmosphere for 30 days
- Crewed mission to Venusian atmosphere for 1 year
- Long-term human presence in a floating balloon.
