Critical reception

Ron Wynn of Allmusic highlighted this track on Love Language and he called it a good duet.[2] Whitney Houston Fan wrote: "The arrangements frequently border on formulaic, but such ballads as "Hold Me" one of the loveliest pop singing on vinyl since the glory days of Dionne Warwick."[3]
