Homestead Senior High School, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, United States, is a public 4-year high school. Homestead is a class 5A high school. Part of Southwest Allen County Schools, the school receives accreditation from the Indiana Department of Education and the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools.
Activities
The Spartana, Homestead's student newspaper, was awarded the NSPA Pacemaker award for its 2004 − 2005 and 2008 - 2009 volumes.[3]
The Homestead Spartan Alliance Marching Band have been ISSMA State Champions 5 times (1992, 1994, 1995, 1996, 2011). [4]
The radio station WCYT is the student run not for profit high school station. WCYT has been broadcasting in the city of Fort Wayne since 1995.[5] WCYT has won 17 Indiana Association of School Broadcasters state awards since 2004, most recent award being 2016.[6][7]
Sports
Homestead has a variety of sports teams and clubs. Homestead also belongs to the Northeast Hoosier Conference.
- The Gymnastics Team won the state championship in 1983, 1984, 1985, 1996, 1999 and 2001.[8]
- The boys basketball team won the state championship in 2015(AAAA).[9]
Dave S. Walter Memorial Stadium is the school's athletic field. In 2004, artificial turf was installed.
