Hussain Al Nowais

Hussain Jasim Al Nowais[note 1] (Arabic: حسين جاسم النويس ) is an Emirati businessman. He is the chairman of Senaat,[1] one of the United Arab Emirates's largest holding companies. Al Nowais serves as the Chairman of Al Nowais Investments LLC, Khalifa Fund to support & develop small and medium enterprises, Emirates Steel and National Petroleum Construction Company "NPCC" in Abu Dhabi. [2]

Al Nowais is Vice Chairman of The Abraaj Group. He serves as a Director of Rotana Hotel Management Corporation and MENA Infrastructure Fund (GP) Limited. He serves on the board of trustees of Khalifa University. He is an executive board member of the Arab Business Council of the World Economic Forum. Al Nowais has been the Chairman of Waha Capital since April, 2006.[3]

In 2013, the Arabian Business cover story "Success on Both Sides" (Arabic: نجام في الاتجاهين) described the achievements of Al Nowais in both private and public sectors.[4] In the same year, the MF International Gulf Italy magazine named him among "The people who count in Dubai". In 2011 and in 2013, Arabian Business included him in their "2013 Construction Week Power 100" list.[5]

Early life

Hussain Al Nowais[6] was born in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. He graduated from Lewis & Clark College in Portland with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration, with an emphasis on finance.

Career

Al Nowais Investments does deals worth billions of dollars; one project was to lead a consortium to build Egypt's first coal-fired power plant in the Suez area to meet the country's acute power shortage.[7]
