IBM Research – Africa
IBM Research – Africa was officially launched by IBM and H.E. the President of Kenya, Hon. Uhuru Kenyatta in November 2013. IBM's twelfth global research lab – a public-private partnership between the Ministry for ICT and IBM – and located at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa in Nairobi - conducts applied and far-reaching research into the grand challenges of the African continent to deliver commercially viable innovations that positively impact people's lives.
IBM's vision was to set up a pan-Africa institution with multiple facilities serving the entire continent. In February 2015, IBM launched its second Africa lab in Johannesburg, South Africa.
