I Don't Wanna Grow Up is the debut extended play (EP) by American pop recording artist Bebe Rexha. The album was released on May 12, 2015,[1][2] through Warner Bros. Records.[3]
Background
After appearing on Globalization by Pitbull,[4] teaming with Pete Wentz as part of music duo Black Cards[5] and writing and performing the chorus for "Hey Mama" by David Guetta,[6] Rexha began work in 2014 on her first single "I Can't Stop Drinking About You".[7]
In December of that year, the singer published a demo of "Cry Wolf", rumored to be her new single.[8] Four days later however, "I'm Gonna Show You Crazy" was revealed as the next single. The song was finally released a week after its preview on December 19.[9]
Critical reception
In May 2015, the EP was declared an ArtistDirect EP of the week, with Rick Florino describing the album as "unabashedly fun yet starkly emotional" with everything being a "delicate balance of hypnotic honesty and heartfelt hookiness, separating her from the pack". With respect to the song "Pray", her vocal range is portrayed as "downright impressive as she hits expansive runs and high notes, carrying these sorts of cleverly confessional lines".[5]
Robbie Daw of Idolator stated that the song "Pray" "displays perhaps a more emotional side of Bebe than we’ve heard in her past single releases".[10]
Touring
To support the EP, Rexha performed across Europe, in addition to singing as part of the Warped Tour.[6]
