India World Miss University is an annual national beauty pageant in India that selects a winner to compete at World Miss University pageant.[1][2]
History
India has been participating in World Miss University since 1989. Priyadarshini Pradhan and Nandini Gautam Jani were the first Indians who represented India at World Miss University pageant in 1989. Priyadarshini Pradhan was India World Miss University 1 and Nandini Gautam Jani was India World Miss University 2. At the end of the event in 1989, Priyadarshini Pradhan was crowned winner, making her the first Indian and second Asian to win the crown.
Titleholders
- India did not compete in the World Miss University from 1986, 1987, 1988, 1995, 2001, 2008, 2012, 2014.
- India has two contestants represented World Miss University in 1989 & 1990
- Priyadarshini Pradhan participated in Femina Miss India & won Miss India 1987. Later She represented India in the Miss Universe 1987. She won the Best National Costume Award and the Best Asian contestant (Press) at the Miss Universe competition.
