The Institute of Geographical Information Systems (IGIS) was established by the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) in Pakistan to focus on the educational needs of students in Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing (RS). IGIS is presenting a number of programmes starting from basic short courses and diploma courses and then leading to the degree level programmes like MS and Ph.D. IGIS makes good use of its relationship with relevant government organizations to provides best level of education to its students.

Degrees

The institutes is a degree awarding institute having bachelors in Geoinformatics Engineering and Master in GIS and RS along with Phd in geo informatics and remote sensing. The engineering degree is currently in process with Pakistan engineering council and they have not yet decided to give it accreditation as engineering degree or not.

Faculty

The institute has a highly qualified faculty comsisting of a lot of Phds. The current associate dean is D.r Ejaz Hussain and Head of the department is D.r Javed iqbal. Other faculty consist of D.r Salman atif, Dr. Ali tahir, Mohammad Ahsan Mahboob and others

MOUS

Institute of Geographical information systam has signed MOU with ASian institute of technology Thailand to award dual degrees to master student based on the studies in both the institutes. The proposed program envisages cooperation in RS & GIS with School of Civil Engineering and Technology (SET), AIT, Thailand and Institute of Geographical Information Systems (IGIS), School of Civil & Environmental Engineering (SCEE), NUST, Pakistan.

Admission Procedure a. Should apply separately for the dual degree program. b. Must meet NUST admission criteria for admission. c. AIT English Entry Test or AIT-EET before admission d. In case of more than three students registering only three best students will be selected on merit after fulfilling all codal and financial responsibilities, whereas for remaining students course work will be counted towards NUST, MS (RS & GIS) of 30 Credit hours. The students should maintain a CGPA of 3.0 prior to proceeding to AIT
