Internet presence management
Internet Presence Management is a comprehensive and progressive approach to search engine optimization (SEO), search engine marketing (SEM), social media (SM), and other Web-based promotion methods. Internet presence management is the process of controlling or influencing the Web presence, or Internet-based channels, of an organization or company, with the goal of increasing that entity's online presence and overall internet efficiency.[1]
It should not be confused with online presence management. Additionally, Internet presence management is distinct from web presence management in that the former is generally a marketing and messaging discipline while the latter is Governance, risk management, and compliance (GRC) discipline.
Internet presence
The Internet presence, (see also Web presence), of an organization or company encompasses, but is not limited to:
- Internet forums
- Blogs
- Minisites
- Search engine listings
- Social networks (e.g., MySpace, Facebook, YouTube and Twitter)
- Web directories
- Websites
- Word-of-mouth marketing (WOMM).
Methods
Internet presence management typically encompasses advanced Internet marketing, where an advertiser communicates the entity's brand in a synergistic fashion via all areas of online marketing. Other management methods include web presence management systems, sales force management systems, enterprise resource planning, Web analytics, and business analytics to streamline a business operationally to do more with less.[1]
Advantages
Internet presence management is useful for organizations or companies that are attempting to embrace the online medium as means of connecting with their target audiences, as well as reduce customer acquisition and customer service costs. Many offline businesses decide to increase their internet presence as a way for cost effective and diversified marketing strategy.
