Isha Tejan-Cole Johansen is a Sierra Leonean entrepreneur and the current president of the Sierra Leone Football Association. Johansen is one of only two women in the world to head a national football association, along with Lydia Nsekera, the president of the Burundi football association.[1]

Isha Johansen is the owner and CEO of Sierra Leone National Premier League club FC Johansen. Isha Johansen is a member of the Tejan-Cole family in Sierra Leone.

Early life and Family background

Isha Johansen was born as Isha Tejan-Cole in Freetown, Sierra Leone into the famous Tejan-Cole family, who are of Creole descent. She was raised in a religious muslim family. She is married to a Norwegian husband Arne Birger Johansen.

President of Sierra Leone Football

Johansen was elected president of the Sierra Leone Football Association unnoposed on 3 August 2013,[2] after her main opponent, former Sierra Leone international footballer Mohamed Kallon was disqualified by the Sierra Leone Football Executive committee for not meeting the SLFA residency requirement in the country.[3][4][5] Kallon disagreed with his disqualification and appeal to Fifa. But the Fifa delegation to Freetown confirmed Kallon and the other candidates disqualifications, and so Johansen was elected unnoposed.[1]

Isha Johansen founded her own football club FC Johansen in 2004. The club started with the objective of giving hope to a group of young footballers, using sport as a means of channeling their energy into a positive healthy direction.
