Ivan Močinić (born 30 April 1993) is a Croatian football player currently playing for and captaining HNK Rijeka in Croatia's Prva HNL.
Club career
Born in Rijeka, in his first professional season he collected 13 caps and scored his first goal for Rijeka in the last round of 2011–12 Prva HNL. He made his debut for Rijeka in away derby match against Dinamo Zagreb, in October 2011. Močinić scored his first goal for the club in the last match of the season, against NK Karlovac 1919. During the 2012–2013 season he made 19 league appearances for the club, scoring one goal in the process, against Slaven Belupo, as Rijeka finished 3rd at the end of the season.
International career
Močinić has collected 8 caps for Croatia's Under-19 side, including 3 caps at the 2012 UEFA European Under-19 Football Championship. He is regarded as one of Croatia's greatest prospects. In 2014, he received a first call-up for the senior national team. He was originally included in the 2014 FIFA World Cup squad for Croatia, but a last minute injury forced him out of the tournament. He was replaced by Milan Badelj who initially failed to make the squad.[1] On 17 November 2015, he made a senior national team debut for Croatia in a friendly away game against Russia, where he played the entire game.
