J. Bentley (full name and dates of birth and death unknown) was an English cricketer. Bentley's batting style is unknown.
Bentley made a single appearance first-class cricket for Sheffield against Manchester in 1846 at Hyde Park Ground, Sheffield.[1] In a match which Manchester won by an innings and 37 runs, Bentley opened the batting in Sheffield's first-innings and was dismissed for a duck by Tom Hunt. He took two wickets in Manchester's first-innings, dismissing Samuel Baldwinson and J. Womack, though his exact bowling figures are unknown. Batting at number four in Sheffield's second-innings, he was dismissed for 5 runs by Womack.[2][3]
