J. Hicks Lanier

John Hicks Lanier is an American heir and businessman.[1][2] He has been the Chairman of the Board and CEO of Oxford Industries (NYSE: OXM) since 1981.[3][1][2][4][5][6][7]

Early life

J. Hicks Lanier is the son of Sartain Lanier, the co-founder Oxford Industries.[2][8] He graduated from Vanderbilt University and received an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School in 1964.[3]

Career

He was the director of the Piedmont Medical Center, the American Apparel Manufacturers Association, and Shaw Industries.[3][7] In 1981, he became the Chairman of the Board and the CEO of Oxford Industries.[2] He sits on the Boards of Directors of SunTrust Banks (NYSE: STI), Crawford & Company (NYSE: CRDB), and Genuine Parts Company (NYSE: GPC).[3][1][2][6][7] He sits on the Board of Advisors of Urban Realty Partners.[4]

He is a former trustee of the Westminster Schools of Atlanta and the Henrietta Egleston Hospital for Children.[3][7] He now sits on the Board of Trustees of Vanderbilt University since 1997 and on the Sartain Lanier Family Foundation.[3][2][7][9] He sits on the Board of Directors of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce.[10] He is also a member of Central Atlanta Progress.[11]

Personal life

He is married with three children.[3]
