The JD Institute of Fashion Technology is the educational division of JD Educational Trust, with learning centres spread across India. The institute was founded on 12 October 1988 in Mumbai, India, and in a history of more than 25 years; the institute holds the reputation of delivering multi-disciplinary education in the field of Fashion and Interior design studies. The institute was ranked 10th in the field of Fashion Technology Education in India by India Today and Nielsen.
JD Educational Trust is a charitable establishment with a strong legacy of design programs and a culture of critical analysis. The institute has constantly delivered a number of successful fashion entrepreneurs and design professionals employed by marquee-name labels and organizations around the globe. The school boasts of an acclaimed list of alumni - Rocky S, Shane & Falguni, Reza, Gaurav Chabra, Urvashi Kaur, Maheka Mirpuri, Nitin- Isha and Niket Mishra, just to name a few.
The institute has closely worked with prestigious members of the industry like Fashion Design Council of India and is a regular contributor to the development of the Indian Fashion Industry, participating in exhibitions, fashion weeks and other social and charity events. Additionally, JD Educational Trust is a member of various prestigious bodies such as, Indo Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Indo French Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Turkish Chamber of Commerce.[1]

For admission in advanced diploma programs a candidate must have successfully completed 10+2 examination from a board of education recognized in India. For the post graduate diploma in fashion communication, the students must have completed three years graduation in any stream. For the diploma programs the admission is subject to the availability of seats.[2][3]

E-Library – The institute has a comprehensive library with books, magazines, journals and other fashion literature.
Laboratories/ classrooms – The laboratories and classrooms of JD Institute of Fashion Technology are fully equipped, with wifi network and boast of a state- of –the- art facility.[4]
Collaborations
- JD Educational trust boasts of strategic partnership with KOEFIA, one of the world’s premier Haute Couture institutes based in Rome.
- The institute also shares a strategic partnership with Milan fashion Campus, a leading institute for fashion styling in Milan.
- Recently the institute had associated with the National Design Institute in Moscow where it will cooperate on academic programs and conduct joint research projects.
- The institute has also made its contribution felt in the international art and design sphere. Recently the school took part in an event titled "The market gets a new look" which was held at the vintage Metronio Market in Rome, Italy. The unique art exhibition aims to regenerate, enrich and revive the valuable architectural evidence of the old structure, to include it into the suburban fabric of the gorgeous city. An initiative by the Association “Arte Altra e Carteinregola” and with the support of the VII Council of Rome, AGS Mercato Metronio, and with the artistic contribution of JD Institute of Fashion Technology, the permanent exhibition creates a culturally significant and strong artistic platform to showcase the works of artists of different nationalities and genres. The one of a kind project offered a valuable and a prestigious international stage for the students of JD institute of fashion technology to present their years of hard work and academic excellence in the form of art and design work - high on creativity, innovation and imagination.
- In 2015 together with SUBLIME galleria, one of India’s premier art galleries, students of JD institute of fashion technology created an art installation where they expressed their design ideas by depicting the history and present of one of the most iconic symbols of India, the rickshaw puller. Titled, ‘The Time Wrap’, the installation was a reflection and an extension of the rickshaw pullers, portraying a contemporary interpretation of the modern human who is unable to experience a time lost in the maddening rush of a mechanical society.
- In keeping with the Government of India's initiative, 'Make in India', this year (2016) the annual show will focus on narrating the untold stories of India’s artisans and craftsmen, thus celebrating the rich heritage of India’a textile and clothing history.
Social Responsibilities
The institute has involved itself in several activities including creating awareness about breast cancer research by organizing fashion charity shows where the crème de la crème of Bangalore is invited to raise funds for the research. Every year in the month of October the institute invites experts from HCG one of the top most specialist hospitals in cancer care, to educate, discuss and inform students about breast cancer.
This year the institute will collaborate with one India’s finest fashion designer to create a project where the student will design a collection based on sustainability that will be placed for auction to raise funds to contribute towards cancer prevention and research.
The institute has curated a photography exhibition in one of the premiere malls in Bangalore with an aim to educate the larger population on cultural responsibilities.
The institute offers education, skill development, training and support to underprivileged children, girl child, and differently-abled children as a part of its corporate social responsibility.
Tradition
Every year the institute organises an annual fashion show called 'JD Annual Design Awards‘. The annual event is aimed at showcasing the creations designed by the final year student of the institute.
