JJ Project (Korean: 제이제이 프로젝트) is a South Korean pop duo consisting of JB (제이비) and Junior (주니어). They were formed by JYP Entertainment and released their first single "Bounce" in May 2012.[1] They debuted as a part of GOT7 in January 2014.

Career

2009: Pre-debut

In 2009, JB and Jr. successfully auditioned for JYP Entertainment, and became trainees.[2] In 2012, they got a role on the KBS drama Dream High 2. On February 3, it was announced that JB and Jr. would debut officially as a boy band sometime during the second half of 2012.[1]

2012 to 2014: Bounce, NaNaNa and GOT7

Their debut single "Bounce" was released in May 2012. On May 19, 2012, the music video for title track "Bounce" was released through their official YouTube account. On May 20, 2012, their music video ranked #10 on iTunes's "Top Dance Album"[3] The music video of Bounce gained an explosive attention online since its release and reached #4 Most Liked, #10 Most Viewed, #7 Most Discussed, and #4 Most Favorited video worldwide on YouTube. In South Korea, it ranked #1 on all four charts.[4] Their MV also reached over 1 million views in YouTube in just 2 days.[5] The duo started their promotions for "Bounce" on May 24, 2012 on Mnet's M! Countdown.[6]

On June 26, 2012, the duo was invited to record their own rendition of NaNaNa by Yoo Seung Jun to be performed on the second season of MBC's music program "MM Choice".[7] On January 16, 2014, the duo debuted as part of GOT7.[8]
