Park Jin-young (Hangul: 박진영; hanja: 朴珍榮; born September 22, 1994), commonly known by his stage name Junior, is a South Korean singer and actor. He is a member of the duo JJ Project and the group Got7, which are both under JYP Entertainment. Junior's stage name was previously Jr. before it was officially changed to Junior on May 20, 2015.[1] He got this stage name because he shares his real name with the founder of JYP.
Junior has had supporting roles in the television dramas Dream High 2 (2012), When a Man Falls in Love (2013) and Beloved Eun-dong (2015). His first leading role in is the upcoming film Snowflakes.
Career
In 2011, Junior was cast in the role of Jung Ui-bong in the television drama Dream High 2.[2] The drama began airing on January 30, 2012 on KBS.[3] On February 29, Junior released the song "We Are The B" for the drama's soundtrack, along with Jinwoon, Kang So-ra and Kim Ji-soo.[4]
In May 2012, Junior and fellow trainee JB debuted as the duo JJ Project with the single album JJ Project Slot Machine.[5] Their official music video for title track "Bounce" was released on May 19, and the duo began promotions for "Bounce" on M! Countdown on May 24.[6]
On March 11, 2013, it was announced that Junior would be appearing as Ddol-yi on MBC's new drama When a Man Falls in Love. His bandmate JB also had a role in the drama, which aired for twenty episodes beginning April 3.[7]
On December 24, 2013, it was announced that the two members of JJ Project would debut as part of a 7-member boy band called Got7.[8] On January 7, 2014, JYP Entertainment released the teaser images for Junior along with the teaser images of his group members Youngjae and BamBam.[9] Their debut song "Girls Girls Girls" and the music video for the track were released on January 14.[10]
In 2015, Junior was cast in a supporting role in the drama Beloved Eun-dong, which aired on JTBC from May 29 to July 18.[11][12] He was then was cast as the male lead in the upcoming film Snowflakes (Korean: 눈발), alongside rookie actress Ji Woo.[13]
