The Jaipur International Film Festival (JIFF), founded by Hanu Roj in 2009,[1] is held annually in Jaipur. The festival aims at providing a common platform for the cinemas of the world to project the excellence of the film art; contributing to the understanding and appreciation of film cultures of different nations in the context of their social and cultural ethos; and promoting friendship and cooperation among people of the world.

The festival is conducted by the Jaipur International Film Festival Trust. The 8th edition (latest) of JIFF was held at Jaipur Rajasthan from 2 January 2016 with Prakash Jha as the Chief Guest.[2]

Vision

The purpose of this film festival is to promote new movie makers, exchange of knowledge, information, ideas & culture between India & other nations in context of their social and cultural ethos. JIFF also promotes friendship and co-operation among people of the world through the medium of films & documentaries.

Though the film festivals have become a regular affair in most countries yet most of them cater only to selected audience as well as entertain the commercially successful film makers and related personalities. However, JIFF intends to organize a festival that connects the film fans & movie goers with the world, especially the serious film-makers & their associates so as to bring about greater understanding of the art of film making.

History

The Jaipur International Film Festival, the world's fastest growing film festival, is held every year in January or February in Jaipur, India

Launched in January 2009, Jaipur International Film Festival -JIFF became expanding establishing name in organizing world film festival every year in Rajasthan.

JIFF 2016

The 8th Jaipur International Film Festival, began in Jaipur, Rajasthan on 2 January 2016[5] and drew to close on 6 January 2016. A total of more than 20,000 delegates participated and the festival closed with the film - ‘Iraqi Odyssey’- from UAE and ‘Saankal’- from India.

International Screenplay Competition ISC@JIFF

The ISC Screenwriting Competition continues to empower global connectivity between screenwriters, filmmakers, producers, and innovators. Our goal is to discover new exciting screenwriting talent from around the world. Top finalists will get their scripts read by industry professionals. Submit in 10 languages your script/screenplay/story. Either than language Hindi, English, Rajasthani, Urdu, Sanskrit, French, Malayalam, Tamil, Marathi & Bengali, it should be dubbed or translated in Hindi or English.
