The Jaipur International Film Festival (JIFF), founded by Hanu Roj in 2009,[1] is held annually in Jaipur. The festival aims at providing a common platform for the cinemas of the world to project the excellence of the film art; contributing to the understanding and appreciation of film cultures of different nations in the context of their social and cultural ethos; and promoting friendship and cooperation among people of the world.
The festival is conducted by the Jaipur International Film Festival Trust. The 8th edition (latest) of JIFF was held at Jaipur Rajasthan from 2 January 2016 with Prakash Jha as the Chief Guest.[2]

Vision
The purpose of this film festival is to promote new movie makers, exchange of knowledge, information, ideas & culture between India & other nations in context of their social and cultural ethos. JIFF also promotes friendship and co-operation among people of the world through the medium of films & documentaries.
Though the film festivals have become a regular affair in most countries yet most of them cater only to selected audience as well as entertain the commercially successful film makers and related personalities. However, JIFF intends to organize a festival that connects the film fans & movie goers with the world, especially the serious film-makers & their associates so as to bring about greater understanding of the art of film making.

Launched in January 2009, Jaipur International Film Festival -JIFF became expanding establishing name in organizing world film festival every year in Rajasthan.

JIFF 2016
The 8th Jaipur International Film Festival, began in Jaipur, Rajasthan on 2 January 2016[5] and drew to close on 6 January 2016. A total of more than 20,000 delegates participated and the festival closed with the film - ‘Iraqi Odyssey’- from UAE and ‘Saankal’- from India.
Following were the key highlights of the 5 day long festival:

- 8th JIFF had an international jury, Mr. Belal Taheri from Iran, Mr. Mohamed Hisham from Egypt, Mr. Martin Rohe from Germany, Mr. Emannuel Tenenbaum from Netherlands, Mr. Cathie Fong Yoneda from USA and Ms. Pamela Jaye Smith from USA. Along with national jury Mr. Subhash Kapoor, Mr. Anjum Rajabali, Mr. Rakesh Andania, Mr. Niranjan Thade, Dr. Biju, Mr. G. Biju Mohan, Mr. Chandra Shekhar, Mr. Gajendra Shrotriya, Dr. Dushyant, Dr. Vibhuti Pandya and Mr. Vivek Sharma.

- Excellent Achievement Award to Indian film producer, director, screenwriter and actor Prakash Jha for his contributions to world cinema.
- Inauguration of Film Market by Mr. T P Agarwal, Vice President (International Federation of Film Producers Associations- FIAPF) and Mr. Komal Nahata, Noted Film Critics on 3 January 2016 with the opening film of Film Market- The Answer directed by Pavan Kaul from USA, Romania, India | 108 Minute
- 8th JIFF had 2 Co-production meets, first on 3 January 2016 at Manipal University and second on 6 January 2016 at Golcha Cinema.
- Inauguration of International Screenplay Competition by Mr. Anjum Rajabali on 5 January 2016
- 8th JIFF had Writers Meet on 5 January 2016 headed by the chairperson Mr. Anjum Rajabali, with Mr. Kamlesh Pandey, Mr. Himanshu Sharma, Ms. Juhi Chaturvedi and Ms. Sanyuktha Chawla
JIFF Achievements
- JIFF is world’s first film festival which received films from 90 countries within its only 5 years existence.
- JIFF is 1st film festival in the history of Indian film festivals which was organized at 10 screen in 2013.
- 4 films (5 awards) received National Film Awards 2014 from JIFF 2015.
- 7 films received 8 National Film Awards which films submitted /nominated in JIFF 2014.
- 10 films have received National Film Awards and 1 feature film have received Academy Award (Oscar) after being awarded at the Jaipur International Film Festival in previous years.
- When JIFF announced the guest country to France in 2011 after that Cannes Film Festival launched the Guest country category.
- JIFF launched maximum programs in minimum time all over the world.
- Jaipur International Film Festival is the world’s fastest growing and now a prestigious Film Festival.

The ISC Screenwriting Competition continues to empower global connectivity between screenwriters, filmmakers, producers, and innovators. Submit in 10 languages your script/screenplay/story. Either than language Hindi, English, Rajasthani, Urdu, Sanskrit, French, Malayalam, Tamil, Marathi & Bengali, it should be dubbed or translated in Hindi or English.
