Janowo [jaˈnɔvɔ] (Kashubian:Jônòwò, German: Johannisdorf) is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Kwidzyn, within Kwidzyn County, Pomeranian Voivodeship, in northern Poland.[1] It lies approximately 11 kilometres (7 mi) north-west of Kwidzyn and 63 km (39 mi) south of the regional capital Gdańsk.
Before 1772 the area was part of Kingdom of Poland, 1772-1919 Prussia and Germany, 1920-1939 Poland, 1939 - March 1945 German-Nazi occupation. For the history of the region, see History of Pomerania.
