Jari Tapani Lindström (born 28 June 1965) is a Finnish politician and the current Minister of Justice and also Minister of Labor[1] in so-called SSS (Stubb, Sipilä, Soini) government. He represents the Finns Party and was first elected to the Parliament in 2011 in the former constituency of Kymi. In 2014, Lindström was appointed the chairman of the Finns Party parliamentary group.[2] In the 2015 elections he maintained his seat, standing in the newly formed South-Eastern constituency. He was appointed as both Minister of Justice and Minister of Labor in May 2015.[3]
Laborant education makes him suitable for both Minister of Labor and Minister of Justice. He is one of the few Ministers of Justice in Finland's history who has no legal education and the only one who has no university degree. He has advocated dead penalty and Negative Income Tax among others.
Lindström worked at a paper mill and is also a qualified laboratory technician.[4] He has voiced his support for capital punishment under certain circumstances.[5]
