Jesse & Joy is a Mexican pop duo formed in 2005 by brother and sister; Jesse (born December 31, 1982, as Jesse Eduardo Huerta Uecke[1]) and Joy (born June 20, 1986,[2] as Tirzah Joy Huerta Uecke[3]), from Mexico City. Introduced in 2005 by Argentine-Mexican duo Sin Bandera at the 2005 Mexican Teletón, Jesse & Joy released their debut album Esta Es Mi Vida in 2006, through Warner Music Mexico. Their debut single, "Espacio Sideral", was certified Gold by the Asociación Mexicana de Productores de Fonogramas y Videogramas (AMPROFON). The album reached the top twenty on the Mexican Album Chart, was certified Platinum by the AMPROFON, and helped the duo to win the Latin Grammy Award for Best New Artist the next year.[4]
In 2008, Jesse & Joy released the Extended Play Esto Es Lo Que Soy, and next year their second studio album Electricidad. The album, which reached its peak position at number twenty-one on the Mexican Album Chart, was certified Gold by the AMPROFON. Electricidad included songs like "Adiós", that peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart, and "Chocolate". In 2011, ¿Con Quién Se Queda El Perro? was launched as their third studio album. The album was certified 2× Platinum by the AMPROFON, and includes songs like "Me Voy", "¡Corre!" and "La de la Mala Suerte". At the 2012 Latin Grammy Awards, Jesse & Joy were nominated to four Grammy Awards, winning three of them: Best Contemporary Pop Album for ¿Con Quién Se Queda El Perro?, and Song and Record of the Year for "¡Corre!". Additionally, Carlos López Estrada received the Latin Grammy Award for Best Short Form Music Video for "Me Voy". On December 5, 2012, ¿Con Quién Se Queda El Perro? received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Latin Pop Album.[5]
Early life and career
Their parents are from Mexico City and the United States (Mexican father and Mexican-American mother). In 2001, when they were 18 and 15 years old, respectively, they began writing lyrics and songs with their father. They were signed under the Warner label on April 18, 2005.[1] Jesse plays the piano, the guitar, and sings some backup for the songs, while Joy plays the guitar and is the lead voice.[1][2] Their first appearance was on the Mexican Teletón in 2005 when the Mexican-Argentine duo Sin Bandera presented them to the Mexican audience. This was followed by James Blunt's showcase tour in Mexico.[1]
"Espacio Sideral" was the first single to be taken from their first album and went to number 1 on many radio stations. A video for the single was produced in Argentina, and first shown on MTV on June 27, 2007. The second single was "Ya No Quiero", and the third "Volveré" were released later with moderate success. Jesse & Joy were nominated in the MTV Video Music Awards Latin America in the category of Promising Artist (Artista Prometedor).[6] Other nominees were the Argentine singer Axel Fernando, the Puerto Rican alternative-reggaetón duo Calle 13, the Colombian singer and Grammy Award–winning Fonseca and the Mexican rock group División Minúscula.

It entered the Mexican Albums Chart at number fifty-five and reached a peak position of number twenty-one. Their single "Llegaste tú" was used in Televisa's 2007 soap opera Tormenta en el Paraiso In 2011, Jesse & Joy released ¿Con Quién Se Queda El Perro?, which, along with their songs, received four Latin Grammy Awards and five nominations.
