Joanne Catherine Ryan (born 29 July 1961) is an Australian politician. She is a member of the Australian House of Representatives since September 2013 representing the Division of Lalor, Victoria for the Australian Labor Party.

Early career

Ryan completed a Bachelor of Education (Arts) at the University of Melbourne. Ryan was a former school Principal at Moonee Ponds Central School. Prior to this she worked at Laverton Secondary College and Galvin Park Secondary College in Werribee, Victoria. [1] [2]

Political career

Ryan won the seat of Lalor at the 2013 election, and secured a 12.2% margin.

Ryan currently serves as Opposition Whip in the Australian House of Representatives and has done so since 16 October 2013.[3]
