Joint Staff Department of the Central Military Commission

The Joint Staff Department of the Central Military Commission [1] (Chinese: 中央军事委员会联合参谋部) is the command organ and the headquarters for the People's Liberation Army (PLA) of China. It was founded on January 11, 2016 under Xi Jinping's military reforms.[2] It is under the absolute leadership of the Central Military Commission. The predecessor of the Joint Staff Department was the People's Liberation Army General Staff Department.

The Department continues PLA Operations Command, Recruitments, Mobilizations, Formation, Trainings and Administration duties. Its Headquarters is located in Beijing and the current chief of general staff is General Fang Fenghui.

The current deputy chiefs are Admiral Sun Jianguo, Generals Qi Jianguo, Wang Jianping, Xu Fenlin, Wang Guanzhong, and Air Force Lieutenant General Yi Xiaoguang.
