José Carlos Ramírez (born August 12, 1992 in Avenal, California) is an undefeated Mexican-American professional boxer in the Light Welterweight division.[1] Ramírez was the number one rated amateur boxer at Lightweight in the U.S.[2] and a member of the 2012 U.S. Olympics team.[3]
Amateur career
Ramírez won the 2010 U.S. National Champion at Lightweight at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.[4] He's also a Jr. Golden Gloves National Champion, two-time Jr. Olympic National Champion, and a two-time Ringside World Champion. His family currently lives in Avenal, California where he's lived all his life.[5][6]
Jose qualified to represent the United States at the 2012 Olympics by defeating 2008 Olympian Raynell Williams 21-16 in the finals of the 2012 United States Olympic Boxing Trials.[7] Ramírez beat Rachid Azzedine and then lost to Fazliddin Gaibnazarov at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.[8]
