Pollo Campero is fast food restaurant chain that focuses on Latin American chicken recipes. The chain was founded in 1971 in Guatemala by Juan Bautistia Gutierrez and continues to be a family-owned business. Since opening its first restaurant, Pollo Campero has expanded to over 350 restaurants around world. Campero offers Latin-inspired recipes such as chicken empanadas, plantains, yucca fries and other Latin favorites like horchata and flan. The company is most famous for its hand-breaded fried chicken as well as its citrus-Peruvian grilled dishes.

Pollo Campero international headquarters are located in Dallas, Texas.[2]

History

Pollo Campero was founded in 1971 by Juan Bautista Gutierrez in Guatemala and El Salvador http://www.campero.com/heritage The brand has restaurants in Honduras, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Mexico, Spain,the Kingdom of Bahrain, the United States and Italy.[3] The chain has over 350 locations, including 63 in the United States.[4]

Campero began its franchise business expansion in 1992 in the Central American region. In 2002, Pollo Campero opened its the first location in the U.S. in Los Angeles.[5] The restaurant had one million dollars in sales in its first 47 days.[5]

Pollo Campero's Latin menu focuses on personal and family chicken meals. The restaurants offers include: fried chicken, citrus Peruvian grilled, Camperitos (crispy boneless white meat bites), chicken empanadas, sandwiches and bowls. To accompany the chicken entrees, Campero offers Latin sides and drinks such as Campero rice and beans, Latin coleslaw, french fries, plantains, yucca fries, street corn salad, horchata and jamaica.

In the US, Pollo Campero is open for lunch and dinner, and customers can order for dine-in, take out and drive-thru.
