Kambadur (Telugu: కంబదూరు) is a village and a mandal in Anantapur district in the state of Andhra Pradesh in India.[1]
Etymology
The name Kambadur is derived from a monolithic stone carving in the shape of a lotus (kamala) which adorns the ceiling of the main Malleshwaraswami temple in the outskirts of the village.

Famous Personalities
Paidi Lakshmayya (Telugu: పైడి లక్ష్మయ్య) (April 26, 1904 – April 28, 1987): He was Indian Parliamentarian, actor, writer and administrator. He was born to Shri Musalappa in Achampalle village in Kambadur mandal in Anantapur district, Andhra Pradesh, India. After primary education in the village, he graduated as Telugu language as main subject in 1932. He studied Bachelor of Law from Madras Law College.
He was member of Congress party since 1947. After successful tenure in local politics, he was elected to the 1st Lok Sabha[1] from Ananthapur constituency in 1952 as member of Indian National Congress. He visited Russia as a Parliamentary delegation and drafted useful suggestions on Agricultural reforms.
In 1957 Andhra Pradesh appointed as Commissioner of Endowments department. During his tenure he developed many Hindu temples in Andhra Pradesh. He took special interest in the development of Srisailam temple. Later on he worked as Chairmain of Srisailam Devasthanam.
He wrote some dramas and poetic works; important amongst are Markandeya vijayam, Mahatma Kabir, Samsara Nauka, Sai Leelalu, Srisaila Mallikarjuna Mahatyam, Srisaileeyam. He was President of Rayalaseema Dramatic Association, Anantapur between 1944 and 1949. He wrote his autobiography with title "Jnapakalu - Vyapakalu" in 1954.
Andhra University honored him with Kala Prapoorna (Honorary Doctorate).
Dr. P.L. Sanjeev Reddy: Dr. Reddy, Ph.D., is from this region and a Retd. IAS and he has represented India in several International trade negotiations in WTO, Geneva, Issues of Socio-Economic Development in UNESCAP, Bangkok. He served as the Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Govt. of A.P. from 1988 to 1989. He was a Special Assistant to the President of India, National President of Council of State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation of India (COSIDICL).
Dr. Reddy, has won several national awards for his managerial excellence in several fields. In the year 2002, he was awarded Golden Peacock Award instituted by the Institute of Directors, London for excellence in public service.
