Karl Amon (born 19 August 1995) is an Australian rules footballer currently playing for the Port Adelaide Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL).[1] Amon made his debut in Round 7, 2015 against the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba.
At age 5, Amon was diagnosed with Perthes disease. Amon underwent several operations, including five on his hip. Between the ages of 5 and 8, Amon was regularly in hospital and spent a year in a wheelchair followed by a year on crutches. [2]
Karl took big strides towards becoming a regular AFL player in 2015. Building on from 2014, Amon improved his consistency at SANFL level, picked up more of the ball and improved his skill level under pressure. He was rewarded with his debut AFL game in Round 7 against Brisbane, where he picked up 9 disposals and a goal. He played 7 matches at AFL level throughout the season, being a substitute player in 5 of them. In one of his two full games against the Gold Coast Suns, he picked up 16 possessions and 3 goals in Port's victory.
