Kemri is a town and a nagar panchayat in Rampur district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.
Kemri was a part of the princely state of the Nawab of Rampur. It became a part of the Indian state when the Rampur state merged with the Indian Nation. Situated between the cities of Rampur and Bilaspur, Kemri holds significant political importance in the region.
The Chairman of Kemri Nagar Panchayat is Shri Salim Ahmed. The Kemri city is divided into 15 wards for which elections are held every 5 years. The Kemri Nagar Panchayat has population of 28,698 of which 14,972 are males while 13,726 are females as per report released by Census India 2011.
There is only one Inter- College in Kemri. The number of teachers are not enough to run college. There are no proper labs in college. People of kemri are very keen to go for higher education, so for that they are going to other cities and state for education. Due to no degree college or insufficient number of staff in inter college, girls are suffering the most. There are many girls who did not continue their education due to lack of facilities.
This town which is business hub for traders, is not well connected with main highways. During night time it will be difficult to take any bus for kemri if you are in main city like rampur or bilaspur or milak.
The condition of electricity is worst. Sometime people live without electricity for many days. If electricity is there then voltage will be very low .
Same condition is for water. People are not getting water from nagar panchayat because they dont have pressure machine. Because of this more than 25 % of families are not getting water even single drop. The situation in summer is worst when the water level is very down , even their handpumps are not producing water.
For population of more than 25 thousands , there is no maternity facility at primary health center.
The main occupation of Kemrians is local business such as Transports, Rice Mills, Mentha oil, Brick etc. There are good numbers of Business Administrator, Engineers, Doctors, Teachers from Kemri as well. There is good education awareness among population and people are putting lot of emphasis to educate their children; boys and girls equally. Some of the students are pursuing education abroad and in good institutions in India.
Geography
Kemri is located at 28°48′18″N 79°12′11″E / 28.805°N 79.203°E. It has an average elevation of 372 metres (764 feet).In kemri there are many towns such as bhatpura,chamraua,chamarpura,simaliya etc.Chamraua is the only town in the world which has a litteracy rate of 100%.In chamraua even a sweeper such as Anas are educated.
Demographics
As of 2011 India census,[1] Population of Children with age of 0-6 is 4520 which is 15.75 % of total population of Kemri (NP). In Kemri Nagar Panchayat, Female Sex Ratio is of 917 against state average of 912. Moreover Child Sex Ratio in Kemri is around 924 compared to Uttar Pradesh state average of 902. Literacy rate of Kemri city is 44.84 % lower than state average of 67.68 %. In Kemri, Male literacy is around 52.76 % while female literacy rate is 36.18 %.
Kemri Nagar Panchayat has total administration over 4,645 houses to which it supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage. It is also authorize to build roads within Nagar Panchayat limits and impose taxes on properties coming under its jurisdiction.
Caste factor
Schedule Caste (SC) constitutes 2.58 % while Schedule Tribe (ST) were 0.02 % of total population in Kemri (NP).
Work Profile
Out of total population, 7,814 were engaged in work or business activity. Of this 6,786 were males while 1,028 were females. In census survey, worker is defined as person who does business, job, service, and cultivator and labour activity. Of total 7814 working population, 85.79 % were engaged in Main Work while 14.21 % of total workers were engaged in Marginal Work.
Administration
The present Chairman (Mayor) of Kemri is Shri Salim Ahmed is seen as a prominent progressive youth leader in the region.
