Khairuddin Mohamed Yusof

Dr. Khairuddin bin Mohamed Yusof (born 30 July 1939 in Perak, Malaysia) is a Professor Emeritus at the University of Malaya. He receives the Emeritus from the university in year 2004 and Darjah Dato` Paduka Cura Simanja Kini (DPCM) which brings the title of "Dato’ Paduka" from Malaysia's state King of Perak in 1998.

Career with University of Malaya

Khairuddin has served the university for 25 years from 1972 to 1997. He begins his career in the university as a lecturer and later was promoted to the Dean for Faculty of Medicine in 1986. In the same year, he was elected as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Finance and Development) until 1989 and on several occasions as the Acting Vice Chancellor. His was the department head of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Malaysia University Hospital and also the professor of Social Obstetrics and gynecology at the time he retired.

Education

Khairuddin graduated from Sydney University with Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) in 1964 and in 1972, was made a Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (United Kingdom) and a Fellow of the Institute and College of Surgeons (United Kingdom) in 1984.

Contributions

Throughout his career, Khairuddin has written many published and unpublished journals and books related to academics, social lives and, women and children development and health. He has involved in many welfare and community services, among them is "Sang Kancil". Using his expertise, Khairuddin has serves as a consultant in various organizations including the World Bank, United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), Rand Corporation, Asia-Pacific Academic Consortium for Public Health and the World Health Organization. He was also a consultant in SIRIM in the matter related to artificial intelligence.

Present

He is currently serving as the Director of Telemedicine Malaysia (World Care Health, Malaysia), non-executive Director of a public listed company and has just retired from the position of an Academic Advisor in Perak Royal Medical College.
