The Mousavi Khomeini (Persian: موسوی خمینی) family is an Iranian Shi'a Muslim family that is prominent in politics and clergy. The family members are Sayyid and descendents of 7th Shi'ite Imam Musa al-Kadhim.[1] Originally Persians from Nishapur, ancestors of the family migrated to Awadh (in modern-day India)[2][3] and were settled to Khomein in 19th century.[4][5]

Ruhollah Khomeini is the most notable member of the family.
