Kodi Ramakrishna (Telugu: కోడి రామకృష్ణ) is an Indian film director and writer known for his works predominantly in Telugu cinema, and a few Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi films.[1] He has directed more than one hundred films.[2] He has directed a wide range of blockbuster films,[3] like Intlo Ramayya Veedilo Krishnayya (1982), Mangamma Gari Manavadu (1984), Talambralu (1986), Aahuti (1987), Ankusam (1989),Muddula Mavayya (1989), 20va Shatabdam (1990),Sathruvu (1991), for which he received Filmfare Award for Best Director – Telugu,[4] Ammoru (1995), Pelli (1997), Devi (1999), Devullu (2000) and Arundhati (2009), across the genres of fantasy and melodrama.[5][6]
Early Life
Kodi Ramakrishna is from Palakollu, in the West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. His career in the Indian cinema industry spans more than thirty years.[7]
Career
In early 2000, Kodi Ramakrishna worked on a historical film titled Vikrama Simha Bhupati with Balakrishna in dual lead roles. The project also featured Pooja Batra and Anjala Zhaveri and had music composed by Ilaiyaraaja. However, the film was shelved soon after the shoot began.[8][9]
