Krishnadasi (English: Krishna's devotee) is an Indian fiction television series, which has premiered on 25 January 2016, and is broadcast on Colors TV. It is a remake of the Tamil serial as Krishnadasi which aired on Sun TV. The series is produced by Kutty Padmini and Optimystix Entertainment of Vipul D. Shah. The series will be aired on weekdays for one hour.[2]

Sana Amin Sheikh and Shravan Reddy play the female and male lead roles. The series revolves around the life of a young girl Aradhya,the daughter of Tulsi a Devdasi. Krishnadasi is the tale describing harsh realities and truths of religious Devdasi custom in a remote village of Krishnavati and lives of Devdasis.[3]

Plot summary

Krishndasi is a love story caught in the backdrop of hatred and conflict due to Aradhya's lineage of a Devdasi family and her connection with Aryan's family that has his major anger against Aradhya's family due to some hidden past. Set in the small hamlet of Krishnavati... 50 km from Pune, where Devdasi custom prevails amid poverty in village. The story starts with Kumudini, Aradhya's grandmother, who was a Devadasi of Krishnavati and now wants to claim the lost glory of being respected and has come back to Krishnavati with her daughter Tulsi after 21 years to take revenge of her humiliation from Pradhyumna Vidhyadhar Rao, the self-proclaimed Senior of the village, who considers them nothing but a social stigma. Against such a scenario – Kumudini's granddaughter/daughter of Tulsi-Aradhya and Pradhyumna's grandson/son of Shashwat Pradyumna Vidyadhar Rao and Pavitra-Aryan, are both studying in a college in Pune – and are kids of today's world - fall in love, as Aryan saves Aradhya from the wrath of Pradhyumna Vidhyadhar Rao and villagers when she saved a poor girl Ketaki of that village from becoming a Devdasi by stopping the ritual on time and Aradhya getting to know who saved her... It all looks like a typical love story till the strange twist in the tale. Why does Aryan's grandfather Pradyumna Vidyadhar hate Aaradhya's family so much? Now not only does Aaradhya want to find out about her father, that Tulsi her mother, never told about, but now she also has to find out why these two families hate each other so much.In trying to discover things, Aaradhya finds out that her mother Tulsi and grandmother are Devdasis and realised what atrocities both went through in Krishnavati which her mother never told her to shield her from their shadowy lineage of a Devdasi family at any cost and sent her to Pune to pursue her college and studies(JSH). Aaradhya decides to stand up for her mother and grandmother to reclaim their lost respect in village, thus she returns to Krishnavati; on the way, she befriends Gayatri (Aaba Saheb's granddaughter) unknowingly, Aryan is shocked to know Aaradhya's truth. The answers for the questions are: Pradyumna Vidhyadhar Rao hates Aradhya family as the hidden past of his sister committing suicide because of Kumudini by becoming her husband's second wife as a Devadasi; meanwhile Tulsi and Saras (Aaba Saheb's daughter) were best friends and Tulsi had helped Saras to elope and marry her Christian lover, after which Vidhyadhar Rao disowned her. Both Aradhya and Aryan hear the story of their ancestors and promise to take revenge on each other. Soon, when they started supporting their aaji (grandmother) and asuba (grandfather) for Panchayat elections in village.Kumudini plots against Aaba Saheb with the help of David (the brother-in-law of Saras). David enters Aaryan's family as Devesh, their worker. Later, the marriage of Varun and Shivani is held with the help of Aaryan and Aaradhya, which lessens their anger, but Gayatri is trapped by Kumudini and David. Later Kumudini tricks Abba into marrying Gayatri and David to save his respect. This increases the distance and misunderstanding between Aryan and Aradhya when Aryan gets to know that Kumudini was the one who ruined Gayatri's life. Meanwhile Aradhya tries hard to make Aryan understand.Finally she succeeds in making him understand.Aradhya takes Gayatri to her house. The krishnadasi's take care of Gayetri and on the occasion of Holi both families try to humiliate each other but Aryan and Aradhya stop this from happening. However, Aaba created plots against Aradhya to make her a devdasi but Aryan saves her and accidentally they both get married to each other. Chimaji, a priest came Krishnavati for the shuddhikaran of Aryan, as he stopped the devadasi ritual. Later, Chimaji kidnaps Aradhya and takes her to a cave as she insults Chimaji infront of others. At the same time, Aryan's childhood friend Purva comes to Krishnavati for an alliance for Aryan. Aryan saves Aradhya from the cave. He leaves Purva in the jungle and takes Aradhya to a hospital. Purva gets angry and leaves from krishnavati. Later she comes back due to the request of Pavitra and Aaba Sahib. Tulsi tells everyone that Aradhya is chimaji's daughter. The DNA test of Aradhya and Chimaji is conducted. The test report gets negative. Pavitra conducts Aradhya and Shashwat is conducted. Shashwat and Aryan also came to know this. They both get angry and the DNA result also gets negative because Kumudini changed the result. A truth is later revealed and it is shown that kumudini swaped the babies oa Tulsi and Pavitra with the help of Shankari, a nurse. Tulsi gets punished as the DNA report is negative. Aradhya saves Tulsi but she gets trapped infront of Aaba Sahib. Everyone tries to throw stones on her but Aryan saves Aradhya. Kumudini comes there and shows everyone the video in which Aryan applied blood on Aradhya's forehead. Aryan too accepts it. Aryan and Aradhya's marriage gets fixed. Aryan confesses his feeling for Aradhya in the mandir as she questions him for his decision. Later, Aryan proposes Aradhya. She too accepts her feelings for him. Tulsi invites Inspector Damini and her mother Shankari for Aradhya's sangeet. Kumudini gets shocked when she sees shankari. She pulls Shankari and her head gets hurt. Damini takes shankari from there. Later Aryan and Aradhya goes for a date. Chimaji gets a high priest position and he announces that he will fulfill the wish of a person those who help Chimaji to win the competition. Artan and Aradhya tries to make Chimaji win.
