Miss Universe Puerto Rico

Kristhielee competed in the Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2014 pageant representing the municipality of Dorado[2] where she finished in the Top 16. Two years later Kristhielee competed in Miss Universe Puerto Rico Universe 2016 representing the municipality of Isabela and won the pageant.[3]

Dethronement

On March 17, 2016 Desiree Lowry announced that Caride had been stripped of her title after a controversial interview between Caride and Venezuelan entertainment reporter Patricia Vargas. According to the Miss Universe Puerto Rico Organization the reason of her dismissal is that she was rude and arrogant to a journalist during a interview, although she wrote a letter apologizing to the journalist and explained to the organization she had been going through a personal problem and was "having a bad day".

Accordingly, it was later decided by Lowry and the organization's owner Luisito Vigoreaux that she was not fulfilling her obligations as Miss Universe Puerto Rico by missing multiple appearances scheduled by the organization with various excuses. Caride was subsequently replaced by Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2016 1st Runner-Up Brenda Jiménez of Aguadilla who will now represent the island at Miss Universe 2016.[4]

On 6 May 2016, the judge at the court tribunal granted the case to move forward but did not immediately reinstate the crown to Caride pending a secondary hearing in July 2016, when the submission of evidences from both party will take place. Accordingly, the judge in the meantime awarded minimal training to Caride per final outcome of the case, to be provided by the Miss Universe Puerto Rico organization.
