Kubity[1] is an online 3D file import platform that allows users to export SketchUp, Autodesk Revit and Rhinoceros 3D files to the cloud with a drag and drop in Kubity's website or with the support of a plug-in for Revit. The 3D file can then be synchronized between mobile devices and computers enabling the users to see those 3D models in Virtual Reality using a Google Cardboard and also share these files on social networks.
Company overview
Kubity was founded in 2012, and launched its first prototype in September 2013 with a plugin that let its users import 3D models from SketchUp to their browser.[3]
In May 2015 Kubity launched another version that works 100% on the web using WebGL technology. For the first time, the users were able to just drag and drop any SketchUp file in a web browser without having to install a plugIn.[4][5]
The Kubity mobile application was launched in December 2015 on the App Store for iPhone, iPod and iPad as well as on the Play Store for Android phones and tablets.
Technology
Kubity is a cloud-based platform that requires no identification to upload and manage 3D models. It is currently compatible with .skp, .rvt, .3dm file formats which are created with 3d modeling softwares SketchUp, Revit and Rhinoceros 3D, respectively.
Platform support
On iOS, Kubity is compatible with devices running on the version 9.0 or higher. On Android, Kubity is compatible with devices running on the version 4.2 “jelly bean” or higher.
The web version of Kubity is currently supporting web browsers compatible with WebGL: Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome.
