Kunnathur (Kerala)

Kunnathur (Malayalam: കുന്നത്തൂര് Kunnattūr) is a taluk (a local Indian administrative district) in Kollam District in the Indian state of Kerala.

The capital of Kunnathur Taluk, Sasthamcottah, is known for its freshwater lake and attractions. The Kallada River flows eastward within Kunnathur near the Kokkamkave Durga Devi Temple. It is within the border of the Kollam and Pathanamthitta Districts.

Settlements

Kunnathur consists of the regions of Manampuzha, Puthanampalam, Iverkala, Panampthoppu, Nediyavila and Ezhammile (7th stone).

Religion

Kunnathur has several Hindu temples, including the Nediyavila Devi, Kokkamkavu Durga Devi, Puthanambalam Devi, Thalappil Devi (in Thuruthikkara), Karimpinpuzha Shiva and Malanada Karna temples.

An Orthodox church, St. George, commonly referred to as St. George Orthodox Church "സെന്റ് ജോര്ജ് ഓര്ത്ഡോക്സ്പള്ളി കുന്നത്തൂര് തോട്ടത്തുംമുറി" is there.

Changanacherry Smaraka Grandhasala Library

Changanacherry Smaraka Grandhasala in Iverkala was the first library to open in Kunnathur. It is registered as a No-4 library with the Kerala Library Association, which started under the leadership of Sri. P N Panicker. Bhagavathy Vilasam Grandhasala is in Puthanampalam.
