La Libertad (Spanish pronunciation: [la liβerˈtað]) is a municipality in the Chontales Department of Nicaragua.
It is the birthplace of President Daniel Ortega, Miguel Cardinal Obando Bravo, and Vice President Omar Halleslevens.
