La Ventana is a small fishing village which is also becoming a resort town, south of La Paz on the eastern side of the Baja California peninsula in the Mexican state of Baja California Sur. The location is regarded as a premier venue for kitesurfing and windsurfing during the winter due to consistent strong winds (20-25kts) from November to April. Steady side-onshore winds, medium-sized swells, areas with wide sandy beaches, and large expanses in which to engage in windsports make La Ventana Bay a popular destination.

Wind conditions

La Ventana Bay (Bahia de la Ventana) is famous for consistent north winds that blow from November to April, and the part time home of pro-kiteboarder Sail Schechter. A combination of El Nortes (northerly fronts) and local thermal winds make it possible to kite almost every day during the winter season. La Ventana is considered one of the world's top kiteboarding destinations.[2]

Other activities

During the summer months La Ventana offers good fishing and diving opportunities. In addition, the following activities are available year-round:
