Green was selected 110th overall in the 4th round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the San Diego Chargers.[2] He is first cousins with offensive guard Tyronne Green who he played with in San Diego during Ladarius's rookie season.

2013 season

Green had a breakout sophomore season as being the backup to Antonio Gates. Green played all 16 games, while starting 10, collecting 17 receptions for 376 yards along with 3 touchdowns. Green showed great speed and ability as a tight end catching a 60-yard pass from Quarterback Philip Rivers which resulted in a touchdown after Green eluded 2 Kansas city defenders in a week 12 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. In a wild card matchup between the Chargers and the Bengals, Green made a leaping catch over the safety Chris Crocker, for the Chargers only passing touchdown of the game. [4]

2014 season

For the 2014 season, Green looked to have a season as productive as last year. With the start of the 2014 season Ladrius Green was often used as a blocking tight end as Antonio Gates had a big season catching 12 touchdowns. Against the Rams Green caught a 28 yard throw on a crucial 3rd down. Green ended the season with 19 receptions on 23 targets for 226 yards averaging 11.6 yards per catch.

2015 season

With starter Antonio Gates suspended for four game, Green was temporarily assigned the starting role. Week 1 against the Detroit Lions, Green caught 5 passes for 74 yards and a touchdown.[5] He finished the season with 37 catches, 429 yards receiving, and 4 touchdowns.[6]
