Ricardo Eugene Mathews (born July 30, 1987) is an American football defensive end for the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the seventh round of the 2010 NFL draft. He played college football at Cincinnati.
He has also played for the Houston Texans and San Diego Chargers.

He is a member of the 2009 Cincinnati Bearcats college football team. Ricardo graduated from Jacksonville, Florida's Terry Parker High School and was a three time First-Team All Conference Selection for Terry Parker's football team. Ricardo was also a conference champion wrestler and made it to the Florida state championships in track.
Indianapolis Colts
Matthews was drafted in the 7th round of the 2010 NFL draft by the Colts. With his time with the colts he recorded 51 tackles and a sack and a half. He was knick named "Meatball" by his fellow teammates because he would eat meatball subs before, during , and after games.
Houston Texans
Mathews was signed to the Texans offseason roster, but was later released due to the depth at defensive end.
San Diego Chargers
On September 1, 2014, the Chargers signed Mathews to their 53 man roster to add depth at the defensive end position. On September 29, 2014, Mathews debuted on the Chargers recording a sack and 2 tackles. On December 20, 2014, Mathews and Freeney sack and force fumble Kaepernick which was recovered by Liuget for the touchdown. Mathews finished the 2014 season with career high stats, recording 1.5 sacks, 2 force fumbles, and 21 tackles. After an impressive showing in the 2014 season Matthews was signed to a 1-year contract with the San Diego Chargers.
