Mary Katharine Mumford, 15th Lady Herries of Terregles DCVO (née Fitzalan-Howard; born 14 August 1940), is a Scottish peeress and the second of the four daughters of the 16th Duke of Norfolk (and 13th Lord Herries of Terregles) by his wife The Hon Lavinia Strutt.[1]

Honours

Lady Herries (previously known as the Lady Mary Mumford) has served as a Lady-in-Waiting to Princess Alexandra since 1964. She was appointed Commander of the Royal Victorian Order in 1982 and elevated to Dame Commander of the same Order in 1995.[2]

Family

After her elder sister, Anne Cowdrey, 14th Lady Herries of Terregles, died in 2014 without issue, she succeeded as the 15th holder of the ancient noble title.[1] The heir presumptive to the title is her youngest sister, Jane, Marchioness of Lothian, wife of the Conservative politician Michael Kerr, 13th Marquess of Lothian, known as Michael Ancram.

Marriage

In 1986, she married Group Captain Anthony Mumford, CVO, OBE, who died in 2006. The union was childless.
